A bit about me...

My name is Anita Kovacevic (give or take a few č and ć, which I have tentatively removed to save myself the issues with Internet and fonts). I am a multi-genre author of both children's and adult fiction, as well as non-fiction. I teach English, constantly create and am bad at resting.

My belief in the power of storytelling has been strengthened through my years of teaching and teacher training. As a member of an international teaching community, I participated in a worldwide charity anti-bullying e-book Inner Giant, which, among texts by other educators and artists, features some of my first short stories, essays, illustrations and poems. Since then, it has been an honour to be invited to participate in several anthologies, alongside a number of renowned international authors. I write in both my mother tongue Croatian and in English, my second linguistic home. My favourite charity project is Čarolarije našeg grada, which was organised by The Croatian Association Društvo Naša djeca (Dugo Selo subsidiary) and based on my idea and my book Ono čarobno oko nas.

It gives me special joy to write stories which come to me on the 'dreamstep', blending reality and magic. I also have a quirky fondness for writing limerick stories. I live with my family in Croatia, where our cats rule and our Border Collie is the best therapist in the world. Together, we have started a centre for education and communication called Naše Nešto in our little town and we organise workshops for children and adults.
